Our 10 Safety Guidelines
At ForPockets.com we pride ourselves on creating products that are safe for a wide range of pocket pets. Our safety policy includes (but is not limited to) the following daily practices:
-
using non-toxic materials during production;
-
avoiding wood that has been chemically treated, painted, varnished, or sealed with unknown coatings that can chip, splinter, or release harmful fumes when chewed or swallowed.
-
creating toys and cage accessories made from pet-safe untreated woods like apple or pine.
-
using safe, water-based, food coloring in dying toys and cage accessory parts.
-
-
abiding by industry-standard heavy metal restrictions;
-
selecting fabrics that eliminate or reduce pilling and flammability;
-
utilizing non-edible toy parts that cannot be easily ingested;
-
following research-based manufacturing standards during production;
-
choosing pet-appropriate products that are sourced in the United States;
-
maintaining excellent hygiene when creating and handling pet products;
-
keeping our own pets and their equipment away from our production work areas;
-
conducting post-production inspection to remove burrs and jagged edges
-
preventing last minute, haphazard, poorly constructed, sloppiness by always creating ready-to-ship products in advance of posting them for sale online.
Our Pocket Pet pouches, toys, and cage accessories are subject to various consumer product standards and regulations in the United States. However, it is ultimately the pet owner's responsibility to check for possible choking hazards, sharp edges, exposed stitches, or loose threads on an item before adding that product to the pet’s habitat.
Furthermore, if you discover a safety problem that we accidently overlooked, please bring it to our attention, so that we can replace the item or issue a refund immediately.
